This is a tragicomedy by Pierre Corneille. The story is about a young woman named Chimène who is in love with Rodrigue, but he is in love with another woman named Isabelle. Chimène's father, Don Diègue, is killed in a duel by the Count de Guiche, who is also in love with Chimène. Rodrigue challenges the Count to a duel and kills him. Rodrigue is then exiled from Spain. He returns after a year and is reunited with Chimène. They are married and live happily ever after. This is a very complex and interesting story, and I highly recommend reading it if you have the chance.
